Here’s a fun way for the younger ones to get into the festive cooking spirit with you…they can help make their own Mulled Milk! The ingredients below would make two cups of lovely warm Mulled Milk.
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick (or 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon)
- ½ tsp allspice berries
- ½ Star anise
- 2 cups of your little one’s usual milk
- ½ cup water
- Squeeze of honey or maple syrup
- Fresh nutmeg
- Put all of the ingredients, except the nutmeg and the milk, in a small saucepan with ½ cup of water (can be boiled in the kettle first)
- Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
- Once it has been simmering for a few minutes add the milk and bring to the boil before reducing to a simmer again.
- Let your concoction simmer for about 10 minutes before straining into a cup (or bottle for the littlest of us all).
- Grate some fresh nutmeg over the top and that’s it, ready to drink!
Bonus tip: You could squirt some whipped cream on the milk for extra fun, or better yet, turn this into a grown-up drink by adding a dash of brandy woohoo!
