Washing fresh fruit and vegetables is always important, but especially so when the food is going in a little one’s tummy. So we want to share a super quick, super easy recipe for homemade vegetable wash (particularly handy for washing off any chemicals used in the farming process of non-organic produce). There are a few versions of this wash for different types of fruits and veg, but we are sharing the simplest one that can be used for washing anything. The wash will help to get rid of any soil or chemical residue on the food, as well as help it last a little longer in the fridge. Pour it in a spray bottle for spraying your veg or use it for soaking them in a bowl!
1 cup water
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
That’s it, just mix them all together then spray or soak the veg and rinse. If soaking then try to leave them for 2 minutes before rinsing off the mix.
Bonus tip: once you are done with the lemon you can put it in the top rack of your dishwasher. The hot water will revive the lemon and extract any leftover juice, which will make your glasses sparkle and get rid of any odour!
