Avocados have been receiving an absurd amount of attention in the past couple of years – all with good reason! – so we decided to jump on the band wagon and share three reasons avocados are a brilliant food to include in babies’ diets and why we will be including them in our boxes.
- Vitamins and minerals
Avocados are highly nutritious containing over 20 vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Folate, Vitamin C, Potassium, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E, Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium! These vitamins help support development and growth of red blood sells, immune system, nervous system and skin and hair.
- Fibre
Avocados are packed full of fibre; a 100g serving of avocado (just over half an avocado) contains 7g of fibre (37% of the Recommended Daily Allowance for children) – great source of fibre for keeping the digestive system healthy especially for kids prone to constipation.
- Ease and Versatility
The rich, creamy texture and mild flavour of avocados makes it one of the easiest foods to incorporate into even the fussiest of child’s diets! It can be blended into to breakfast smoothies, made into dips or even as a healthy alternative to chocolate mousse by mixing with cacao powder and maple syrup.
Happy avocado-ing! xx
